Study M.Engg in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering from Faculty of Engineering, Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering in McMaster University, Canada

McMaster is ranked #146 in the world and fifth in Canada as per QS World University Rankings (June 2018)

Our Location:: Hamilton, Ontario: The Waterfall Capital of Canada. Close proximity to Toronto and Niagara Falls. Regional campuses in Burlington, Kitchener-Waterloo, Niagara and downtown Hamilton.

Our Students:: 27,282 undergraduate and 4,561 graduate students, for a total student population of 31,843 (of which 29,982 are full-time). International students represent 113 countries. International graduate students represented more than 24 per cent of the graduate student body in fall 2017. The percentage of undergraduates registering with an admission average of 90 per cent and above has risen from 13.5 per cent in 2000 to 42.44 per cent in 2017.

Our Faculty:: 988 full-time instructional faculty members [excluding clinical educators], of which 97 per cent hold doctoral degrees. Full-time faculty members represent 55 countries not including Canada. Outpacing peers in research-intensity, averaging $434,700 per faculty member -- more than double the national average. ("Research intensity" measures research income per full-time faculty member.) 112 endowed chairs, 70 Canada Research Chairs, 13 endowed professorships, six Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council Industrial Research Chairs, two Canadian Institutes of Health Research Chairs, two Ontario Research Chairs, and one Canada 150 Research Chair. Dr. Bertram Brockhouse (a professor of physics at McMaster from 1962 until his retirement in 1982) was co-winner of the 1994 Nobel Prize for Physics.

Our Master of Engineeing (MEng) program has two related goals. First, it seeks to enable students to enhance their knowledge and skills in key areas of electrical and computer engineering to a level at which they will be able to lead the implementation the technologies of today. Second, it seeks to enable them to develop an understanding of the principles that underlie these technologies, so that they will be able to critically evaluate future advances in the state-of-the-art, and to lead creative applications of these advances to develop innovative products and services that address the needs of local, national, international and global communities. This program, which focuses on biomedical engineering, is open only to graduates who have maintained a minimum average of B in each year of the B.Eng. program in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering.

Mr. Deepak, Education Manager, Career XL Services says Biomedical Engineers earn an average yearly salary of $80,751. Salaries typically start from $43,744 and go up to $122,105.

Career Opportunities::Biomedical engineers are in high demand, and that demand is only going to increase over the coming years. Canada has an aging population. Last year, StatsCan reported that there are more Canadians over the age of 65 then there are under the age of 15. That means there will be a growing need for skilled workers in the medical field, including biomedical engineers. New technologies that can meet the challenges of an increasingly aged population will be needed.Biomedical engineers, who help design systems, equipment, and devices to meet clinical problems, in conjunction with doctors and researchers, are going to be a big part of that demand. Technology has become an integral part of medical treatment in the last decade, with more and more medical providers relying on innovative technological systems to help them perform and deliver both basic and difficult treatments. Biomedical engineers bridge the gap between the services delivered and the technologies used, and are an important part of helping people and saving lives.
