Selkirk College is a community college in British Columbia, Canada.Founded in 1966, it was the first regional community college in British Columbia.
The college offers over 60 programs. Selkirk has grown into one of the largest organizations in the West Kootenay and Boundary regions of south eastern British Columbia.
Selkirk College is located in the Kootenays, a spectacular region of rivers, lakes, waterfalls, beaches,hot springs, alpine meadows and snow-capped mountains that is home to four of British Columbia's
seven national parks. The region includes the towns of Castlegar, Nelson, Trail, Rossland, Nakusp, New Denver Kaslo and Grand Forks.
Selkirk College’s main campuses are in Castlegar, Nelson and Trail.
Nelson is located about 35 minutes by car from Castlegar on the shores the West Arm of Kootenay Lake. Selkirk College’s Music, Digital Arts, Hospitality
and Tourism, Trades and Fine Arts programs are all located in Nelson. Nelson’s downtown is famous for its heritage buildings, a wide variety of good
restaurant and unique coffee shops.
Trail located about 20 minutes by car from Castlegar.Selkirk College’s Advanced Medical Transcription and Nursing Unit Clerk programs are located in Trail. It is
close to the town of Rossland where there is world class skiing at Red Mountain.
