Smart Education in Switzerland : Switzerland’s booming job market

In 2014 approximately 25,000 new full-time vacancies opened up. Experts say that 2015 will see another 20,000 new jobs created.

Employment statistics show how numbers of the working population have remained constant throughout the 1990s and increased steadily in the last ten years.

The reasons behind this boom can be traced back to the treaties for the free movement of people and favourable taxation policies, which have encouraged many foreign companies to set up shop in Switzerland.

Changes in demographics, and the recent shift towards a knowledge society has also meant an increase in jobs related to health care and education.

Job openings have been especially numerous in the public sector and government-related institutions, causing some economists to debate how sustainable and healthy this trend is for the future of the economy.
