Smart Education in Singapore : Twitter to create 100 jobs in Singapore

Twitter has moved into new premises in Singapore to house its Asia Pacific headquarters and says it will create 100 new jobs in the city-state over the next few years. The microblogging service’s new APAC base will be taking on roles in sales, partnerships, marketing, HR, finance, user services, legal, policy, and trust & safety, the company said today. Jobs at the company will be updated.

“The Asia Pacific region is already one of the largest and fastest growing regions for Twitter today, and there still is enormous potential to show people, partners and advertisers the value of our platform, from Japan to India to Australia,” said Shailesh Rao, Twitter’s VP for Asia Pacific, Americas and emerging markets..

“We’re capitalizing on this growth in 2015 by making strategic investments across the region – from opening new offices and aggressively hiring staff, to acquiring companies and building local product experiences.”.

Aliza Knox, MD of online sales, Asia Pacific, said: “This is a milestone in Twitter’s history and we’re hiring the best and brightest to take our company to the next phase of regional growth as well as create a hub of innovation in Singapore.”.

The official opening of the office was attended by Dr. Yaacob Ibrahim, Singapore’s Minister for Communications & Information, who tweeted the news using the hashtag #Home4Good..

As part of the Home4Good celebrations, the company is to offer #TweetTalks for power users, advertisers and agencies to share their experiences on the platform..

It is also to launch a #Twitter4Good partnership with Singapore’s Media Literacy Council to educate government and NGOs on how to promote responsible use of the platform..

The company is also to hold #Twitter4Women events with leading industry figures to discuss the use of Twitter for professional and personal development..

Since launching in Singapore out of serviced offices in 2013, Twitter’s team has grown to 80 staff, and the company plans to double in size over the next few years..
