Smart Education in Canada : Ontario Province in Canada Gains 43,900 Jobs in May 2015

Employment in Ontario increased by 43,900 in May as the government's economic plan continues to see results. This brings the total number of jobs added since the recessionary low in June 2009 to 554,100.

Since May of 2014, Ontario has gained 53,000 jobs. These gains in employment put the province above the pre-recession peak in 2008 by 281,600.

The province has recently announced a number of initiatives, including $9 million in programs aimed at increasing employment for people with disabilities. will promote accessible employment, and help improve awareness among organizations through employer-focused programs.

Ontario also announced a $1.8 million investment in the new Abilities Connect Fund, in partnership with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. The fund will help provide job opportunities to people with disabilities, and fill existing workplace vacancies with talented employees who are ready, willing and able to work.

Creating jobs and opportunities is part of the government's economic plan for Ontario. The four-part plan includes investing in people's talents and skills, making the largest investment in public infrastructure in Ontario's history, creating a dynamic, innovative environment where business thrives, and building a secure retirement savings plan.
